Renewing a Domain and Renewal Modes
Where to Find It
Path: Left sidebar → Domains → click on a domain → Settings tab → Renewal Mode menu entry on the left sidebar

Renewal Modes
OpusDNS offers two renewal modes:
Automatic Renewal Enabled ("Enabled")
- Your domain renews automatically before its expiration date
- The renewal cost is deducted from your account balance
- You'll see: "Renewal Mode — Your domain will renew on [date]"
- A button shows: "Disable auto-renewal"
Automatic Renewal Disabled ("Disabled")
- Your domain will not renew automatically
- It will expire on the expiration date unless renewed manually
- You'll see: "Renewal Mode — Your domain will expire on [date]"
- A button shows: "Enable auto-renewal"

Changing Renewal Mode
To disable auto-renewal:
- On the domain Overview, click "Disable auto-renewal".
- A confirmation dialog appears: "Confirm disabling automatic renewal — Disabling automatic renewal will cause your domain to not be renewed on its expiration date: [date]"
- Click "Confirm disabling automatic renewal" to proceed.
- Success notification: "Automatic renewal has been disabled"
To enable auto-renewal:
- Click "Enable automatic renewal".
- A confirmation dialog appears: "Confirm enabling automatic renewal — Your domain will be automatically renewed on its expiration date."
- Click "Confirm enabling automatic renewal".
- Success notification: "Automatic renewal has been enabled"
Enable or Disable renewal mode for multiple domains
From the Domain Overview
- Go to Domains → All Domains.
- Select the domains you want to modify.
- A bulk action bar appears at the bottom of the page—click Update.
- Open the Renewal Mode section.
- Click Change Renewal Mode.
- Enable or disable auto-renewal as required.
- Click Queue updates for X domains to confirm.
- You will be redirected to the Bulk Jobs view, where you can track the progress and results.
Using Bulk jobs
- Navigate to Bulk Jobs in the left-hand menu.
- Click Create Bulk Job in the top-right corner.
- Select the Update Domains action card.
- Enter your domains by either:
- Pasting a list, or
- Uploading a CSV/TXT file
- Click Parse Domains.
- Review the parsed results to ensure all domains are valid.
- Click Proceed with X domains (or go back to correct errors if needed).
- Open the Renewal Mode section.
- Click Change Renewal Mode.
- Enable or disable auto-renewal as required.
- Click Create Bulk Job for X domains to start the process.
- You will be redirected to the Bulk Jobs view, where you can monitor progress and results.

Manual Renewal
Where to find it
Path: Left sidebar → Domains → click on a domain → Settings tab → Renewal Domain menu entry on the left sidebar
Direct URL: /domains/[DOMAIN]/settings/renew
You can also renew a domain manually at any time:
Step-by-step
- On the domain Settings tab, click the "Renew Domain" menu entry on the left sidebar.
- Click on the Renew domain button.
- Select the renewal period and confirm.
- The renewal cost will be deducted from your account balance.
Note: Some TLDs don't support explicit renewal. If so, you'll see the message "[TLD] domains don't support explicit renewal."
Setting Default Renewal Mode
Path: Left sidebar → Settings → Preferences → Domain Default Settings Card
Direct URL: /settings/preferences
To set the default renewal mode for all newly registered domains:
- Navigate to Settings → Preferences → Domain Default Settings card.
- Toggle the default auto-renewal setting on or off.
- Click "Save default settings".
This default applies to future registrations only — existing domains are not affected.
