# What is a VAT ID and where can i find it?

## Learn more about the VAT ID

When registering an account at OpusDNS, depending on your country, you may be required to provide a **VAT ID**. Providing the correct VAT ID ensures smooth verification of your business and accurate tax calculation and billing for your OpusDNS account.

You can usually find your VAT ID in your official tax or company registration documents, which are issued by your local tax authority or other relevant government institutions.

### VAT ID Examples by Region

#### **European Union (EU):**

In many EU countries, the VAT ID serves as the primary tax identifier for B2B transactions.

- **Germany:** VAT ID (Umsatzsteuer-Identifikationsnummer), e.g., DE123456789
- **France:** VAT ID based on the SIREN number, e.g., FR12345678901
- **Italy:** VAT ID (Partita IVA), e.g., IT12345678901
- **Spain:** VAT ID (NIF/CIF), e.g., ESB12345678
- **Netherlands:** VAT ID, e.g., NL123456789B01
- **Poland:** VAT ID (NIP), e.g., PL1234567890
- **Belgium:** VAT ID, e.g., BE0123456789
- **Austria:** VAT ID (UID), e.g., ATU12345678
- **Sweden:** VAT ID, e.g., SE123456789001

#### **United Kingdom & Switzerland:**

- **United Kingdom:** VAT number, e.g., GB123456789
- **Switzerland:** VAT ID (UID), e.g., CHE-123.456.789 MWST

#### **Outside the EU:**

In countries without a VAT system, a comparable tax or business identifier is typically used instead.

- **United States:** Employer Identification Number (EIN), e.g., 12-3456789
- **Canada:** Business Number (BN), e.g., 123456789 RT0001
- **Australia:** Australian Business Number (ABN), e.g., 12345678901
- **New Zealand:** New Zealand Business Number (NZBN), e.g., 9429034567890
- **Singapore:** Unique Entity Number (UEN), e.g., 201234567X
- **Hong Kong:** Business Registration Number (BRN), e.g., 12345678
- **Japan:** Corporate Number (Hōjin Bangō), e.g., 1234567890123
