Understanding the Pre-Payment Balance Model

How the OpusDNS billing system works

Understanding the Pre-Payment Balance Model

OpusDNS operates on a pre-payment model. You top up your account balance first, then use it to pay for domain registrations, renewals, transfers, and services.

Where to See Your Balance

Path: Left sidebar → Settings → Billing

Direct URL: /settings/billing

What You'll See

The Billing page shows a "Current balance" card displaying your available balance. The description reads: "Your balance is used for domain registrations, renewals, and other services." An "Add Funds" button is available on this card.

How It Works

  1. Top up your balance — Add funds via bank transfer (recommended) or credit card.
  2. Use services — When you register, renew, or transfer a domain, the cost is deducted from your balance.
  3. Monitor balance — Check Settings → Billing regularly to ensure you have sufficient funds.

Important Notes

  • If your balance is insufficient, you won't be able to complete registrations, renewals, or transfers.
  • Auto-renewals also draw from your balance — ensure you maintain enough funds to cover upcoming renewals.
  • For billing questions, contact support via the support center (linked on the Payments page).
  • The system note states: "The system is available to you as a 'Pre-Payment System' for immediate start."
